Sahuarita Homes & Real Estate

Sahuarita (saw wah re eta) is a town encompassing a 30 square mile area located about 20 minutes south of Tucson.  Green Valley, a popular retirement community, is just minutes to the south of Sahuarita and another 15 minutes south you will find Tubac, a nationally known haven for artists and art shows.  Incorporated in 1994, Sahuarita is a vibrant, active community surrounded by expansive mountain views.

Most would agree the Town’s recreational center is the 15 acre Sahuarita Lake Park.  Park amenities include a walking path that circles the lake, gazebos, picnic tables and an amphitheater. The lake is a member of Arizona’s Urban Fishing Program and is stocked regularly with trout and catfish.  

Other notable attractions in and around Sahuarita include the 1960’s era Titan II Missile Museum, the only ICBM site in the US that was converted to a museum; Madera Canyon, a nationally known bird watching center that is home for over 240 species of birds; and the Santa Rita Experimental Range, which was founded in 1903 and is the oldest continuously studied research area in the world.    

Rancho Sahuarita, a Master Planned Community founded in 2001, is the largest development in Sahuarita, and is expected exceed 11,600 homes when completed.  Other developments in Sahuarita include Quail Creek, a luxury retirement & golf community restricted primarily to those 55 years or older with no children; Stone House with estate homes priced in excess of $1million; and Madera Highlands.

In addition to these large developments, there are smaller communities located around Sahuarita to suit a variety of ages and lifestyles. Sahuarita has seven shopping centers in development or are being expanded and a new hospital is scheduled to be built next to the new Municipal Complex.

Sahuarita has its own school district and schools from Kindergarten through High School. The Sahuarita Unified School District is proud that 85% of its students continue their education at universities, colleges, or technical schools.
